Our Paul Flynn Construction sponsored Senior Footballers continued our preparations for the Championship Quarter Final with a fantastic workout against County Champions Clann na nGael on Sunday last at Woodmount. Despite the result being immaterial, both teams vied for the bragging rights, and in the end an injury time penalty sealed a deserved win for our visitors. The draws for the Championship Quarter Finals will take place on this Sunday evening, when we will find out our next opponents. See more detailed match report later in the paper for more match details and team line outs.
Our RosGal Loss Assessors Junior A Footballers continued their championship campaign with another improved performance against Elphin on Friday night last in Kiltoom. Niall Finneran led the attack raising our first two white flags and further scores from James Kelly, Eoin Galvin, Mike Kenirons, Eamon Donoghue and a peach from near the side-line from Jason Murray sent us in at half time a point ahead 7 to 6. In the second half, it continued score for score but as they say goals win games and two very well worked scores from Leo Feehily and Eoin Galvin gave us a lead we never relinquished. Full time Pearses 2-10 Elphin 0-10. We have now qualified to play St. Dominics B in a playoff, which is fixed for this Friday night @ 8pm in Kiltoom. Please support! Squad: Mossy Dolan, Tom Richardson, Padraig Downey, Shane Kenny, Jason Cunningham, Shane Downey, James Kelly, Mike Kenirons, Eamon Donoghue, Jason Murray, Eoin Galvin, Matthew Feehily, Keith Grenham, Eoin Curran, Niall Finneran, Jamie Curley, Jamie Donoghue, Leon Feehily, Daniel Farrell, Aaron Johnston, Matthew Commerford, Jake Curley, Kevin Kelly.

Four Roads 2-16
Our Hillview Construction Sponsored U16 team took on Four Roads in the second round of the championship last Wednesday evening in Woodmount. This was a very evenly contested match with some excellent scores taken by both teams throughout. The half time score had Four Roads ahead by 2 points 1-7 to 1-9. Pearses closed the gap to a point for much of the second half but, despite coming close on a few occasions to getting a much-needed goal, we were unable to take the lead. Four Roads finished the stronger team and got a goal with time almost up to win out by 6 pts. Next up for our U16 Hurlers is Roscommon Gaels Wednesday evening in Lisnamult. Panel and Scorers: S. Costello, C. Costello, J. Mooney, J. Flynn, C. Curley, D. Whelan, M. Glennon, F. Darcy, T. McGowan, E. Colleran(1-12, 7F), L. Walsh(0-1), L. Feehily, C. Grenham, C. Carty, R. Kelly, C. Sheerin, C. Minor Boys Footballers
Our Minor Footballers played Castlerea last Thursday evening in Castlerea. The game started in a whirlwind and we found ourselves 8 points down after 3 minutes. Our lads started playing fast direct football and we responded with a goal and 3 points. We were 3 points down at half time. The game restarted with both teams exchanging scores. We started to get a grip around the middle and started to add some great points from play and frees. With only a few minutes left we brought the game back to a draw. With probably the best move of the game we turned over the ball on our own half-back line and moved the ball at pace into the forward line. Quick hand passing resulted in a great goal scored. Castlerea never gave up and scored a point from a free. We won the resulting kick out and the final whistle was blown. Final score Padraig Pearses 3-09 Castlerea 2-10. Our next game is Thursday night v Clan Na Gael in Johnstown 8pm. Panel James Costello John Moore Conor Lohan Keelan Galvin Connel Moore Eoin McManus Jason Cunningham Daniel Farrell Jack Downey Padraig Galvin Eoin Keogh Richard Browne Liam Creavin Eoin Colleran Thomas Carey Callum Keogh Declan Kenny Luke Feehily Terry McGowan.
U16 Football Team
Padraig Pearses U16 football team provided the huge crowd gathering for the Senior Championship match v Clann na Gael with a very enjoyable match in their championship against Clann na Gael. A slow start against an energetic Clann team saw them race into 1 - 4 to a point lead. However the concession of that goal certainly jolted our boys and with our next attack Eoin Colleran drew in the cover and laid on an excellent pass for Daithi Blackweir to blast into the net. Over the next 10 minutes we took over and crashed in 3 more goals through Luke Fehilly, Jack Tumulty and Shane Costello and added some excellently taken points to leave the half time score 4-6 to 1-6.
We knew the game wasn't over and expected Clann to come at us which they did but they could not break down our excellent defence marshalled excellently by Conor Ryan operating at full back and Luke Walsh commanding at centre back. Some great points from Eoin Colleran and Jack Tumulty kept Clann at bay and a late Shane Costello goal was the icing on a very good team performance on a final score line of 5-11 to 2-10.
Panel: Terry McGowan, Cian Grenham, Conor Ryan, Conor Costello, Aaron Burke, Ryan Kelly, Luke Walsh, Daithi Blackweir, Caelim Keogh, Declan Kenny, Jack Tumulty, James Mooney, Shane Costello, Eoin Colleran, Luke Feehily, David Hoey, Adam McGreal, Colm Sherrin, Cormac Curley, Fionnan Darcy, Luke Galvin, Ciaran Curley, Adam Hynes, Cathal Carty, Sean Canning.
U14 boys footballers
It’s been a busy week for our U14 footballers, division 2 & 4. It all kicked off with our division 2 side travelling to Kilbride on Wednesday evening under lights. A strong breeze helped Pearses into a good lead bringing us into half time, however it was inevitable that Kilbride would come back at us in the second half aided by the breeze, our lads showed great character and resilience to get a result. Beating them by one point.
On Friday evening our division 4 side welcomed Dominic’s division 4 side to Pearses. This was a great game, with both sides prepared to play open go forward football, we went in at halftime with only a small difference in the score, Dominic’s pulled away in the second half, but to give our lads credit they never gave up and our work rate was excellent, this bunch of lads are improving with every game, ably assisted by three great U12 players.
On Saturday morning our division 2 side travelled to Elphin to play Elphin/Ballinameen. Due to injuries/sickness, we travelled with 16 players. To be fair to the lads they got out of the blocks from the very start & kept this momentum throughout the game. We never really let Elphin get settled into the game, and we left Elphin with a good win, 3-6 to 0-8. Our next match is against Kilglass next Thursday in Pearses.
