Club Notes June 10

U14 Hurling

Our u14 Hurlers, mentors and travelling support had a weekend to remember at the Feile na nGeal in Cork. The lads did the club proud making the Division 6 shield final where they lost out to our host club Ballygiblin on a scoreline 2-03 to 0-04. Full details of the weekend in next weeks notes.

U12 Hurling

An Spideal 2-05

Padraig Pearses 3-02

Our U12 hurls continued their good run in the Galway league on Monday last when they went down to play An Spideal and came away with a draw. A first-half goal from Dylan Ryan and points from Keelan Kelly and David Kenny had the teams all square at half time. Further goals from Ross Glynn and Daniel Mooney had us in front by 3 points in the closing stages. However, Spideal never gave up and got a goal near the end to draw the match. Panel: J. O’Byrne, R. Glynn, A. Hogan, K. Kelly, D. Ryan, D. Kenny, D. Mooney, A. Kenny, K. Cunningham, D. Lyons, A. Keogh.

U12 Football

Our U12 squads have had a couple of busy weeks playing both St Brigid’s & St Dominic’s in the Spring League.

Our Division 5 squad put in two excellent performance in narrowly losing to a strong Brigid’s squad before beating St Dominic’s to qualify for the shield semi-final. It’s very noticeable that the performance of the young players is improving with each passing game. Their willingness to implement the skills they are working on in training is a joy to watch regardless of the result of any game.

The Division 1 squad had two good wins and have now qualified for the semi-final against a strong Roscommon Gaels in Lisnamult on Wednesday evening at 7.15pm. This game will provide the lads with an opportunity to show how they’ve improved since their first outing of the year against the same opposition. Again, their commitment and enthusiasm to work on improving their skills and attempt to collectively work as a squad means they will continue to improve as the year passes by.
