Division 4 Football League
Our Ros Gal Loss Assessors / Northcrest Constuction sponsored Junior A Footballers made it seven from seven in the Division 4 League with a well earned victory over St. Ronans A in Woodmount on Friday week last. We started very well, and assisted by a strong wind led at half time by 2-9 to 0-1. We made all six subs we could early in the second half and after a tough battle managed to win the second half 2-5 to 2-4. Our defence performed superbly putting in several eye catching dispossessions and all players from number 8 to 15 contibuted on the scoreboard. Overall an excellent team performance which keeps us top of the table and in a strong position for a home league final and promotion to the Tansey Cup for 2019. Full Time Padraig Pearses 4-14 St. Ronans 2-5.

On Friday evening last, the An Táin Bar sponsored Junior Footballers hosted Tulsk Lord Edwards in a fixture that doubled as both Divison 4 League as well as our penultimate Junior B Championship Fixture. After playing against a slight breeze at half time we led by 1-8 to 0-6. Despite being reduced to fourteen players early in the second half due to the enforced retirement through injury of Eoin Galvin, a strong second half performance produced an impressive two point victory in the end. There were strong performances in particular by Brian Croffey in goals whose kickouts were excellent throughout. In defence Luke Powell, Aaron Carty and Enda Barrett were best. Mike Donoghue dominated the midfield exchanges while Eoin Galvin and Tony McEvilly got crucial scores in the forwards. The full time score after an exciting contest was Padraig Pearses 2-14 Tulsk Lord Edwards 2-12.
Division 1 Football League / O’Rourke Cup
The Paul Flynn Construction sponsored Senior Footballers suffered our first defeat of 2018, losing out by a point to a hardworking and resilient Strokestown team on Sunday week last. A first half goal from Conor Payne during a prolonged period of dominance was not sufficiently added to and at half time we led by two points 1-3 to 0-4. A poor second half performance saw us outscored 7-4 and lost out in the end by a point. Pearses 1-7 Strokestown 0-11.
