Girls U14 County Final

Padraig Pearses 5-05 : Oran 7-10
Our girls got off to a nervous start to their County final in Kilbride last Friday evening. Whether it was the occasion or the 6 week lay up for our girls, they seemed very much under par with uncharacteristic handling errors and poorly directed passes preventing us from playing any football in the Oran half of the pitch during the first 10 minutes.
Oran took full advantage of the situation and blitzed the Pearses defense with 3 goals and 4 points. At the 15 minute mark the scoreboard made poor reading for Pearses with a single point showing for Pearses as a result of a rare attack on the Oran goal. The girls then reminded both Oran and the large Pearses contingent of the spirit and resilience which had brought us to the final. We kick-started things with a fantastic move which saw Katie Murray pick up the ball wide in the Oran half, she played an exquisite pass beyond the Oran full-back directly into the hands of Jane Creavin who found the back of the net from the edge of the square. Within a minute a second goal for Pearses followed, again as a result of a fine interchange between Creavin and Ruth Doyle. The confidence flowed back to our girls as we dominated both possession and territory. When a free-kick from 20 yards out hit the back of the Oran net, the scoreboard showed a 2 point advantage to Oran and the Pearses supporters were in great voice. Although the game continued to see-saw in terms of possession and scoring, alas that was to be the closest we were to get to Oran as they maintained and extended their lead. Several players were brought from the bench in order to try to swing things back in our favour, however Oran dropped players back and managed to hold out before countering with a break away goal near the finish, which finally finished off the Pearses challenge. Best for Pearses on the day were midfielders Aliyah Ryan and Clodagh Powell, Keira and Aoife Keogh as well as Shauna Bergin impressed at the back and Jane Creavin was a handful for the Oran backs.
Many thanks to large number of supporters who travelled to Kilbride on Friday and remained vocal throughout and to the parents for their support throughout the year.

Under 20 Championship
The Pearses under 20 Footballers took on St Brigids last Sunday morning in Woodmount in what was effectively the decider as to which team would play Clann or Dominics  in the competition semi finals next weekend, With the losers playing Clann na nGael
St Brigids raced into the game and it looked all over after 15 minutes when they led by 1-4 to Pearses 0-1, But Pearses finally got into their stride and following a 19min goal, Pearses had squared the score by half time. 1-4 each. Both teams exchanged points at the restart but an 8th minute goal for Pearses gained them a lead that would held through out the half. It was a good open game with some good football evident from both sides, But Pearses won out on the day Final Score Pearses 2-10 St Brigids 1-10
