Padraig Pearses B v Clann Na Gael B (0.5 - 3.06)  Sunday 04th October 2020

Our RosGal Loss Assessors Junior A football team played Clann na Geal today in terrible conditions in Hyde.  The conditions played a big role in the football being played and Clann playing with the wind for the first half started brightly getting the first couple of points. Pearses got a few points before Clann got a fortuitous goal and at the first water break Pearses were two points down. Clann got another goal and a couple of points in the second quarter without reply leaving the score at half time as Pearses 0.03 to Clann’s 2.05.

Clann added another goal and a point to there tally pushing them further ahead. Pearses kept battling and tried to find a way back into the game scoring two points leaving a final score line of 0.5 to 3.06 in Clann’s favour. A huge thanks to the management team and all who helped out for the year for there great work, unfortunately it wasn’t our day today but there was a huge effort put in by all this year.

U16 Championship Semi Final 2020

Padraig Pearses V Kilbride 4/10/20

Final Score Pearses 3-4 Kilbride 1-5

Our Pj Kenny sponsored u16 boys faced off against Kilbride in the county semi final today in Woodmount in what was horrendous conditions for football. It was a great workman like performance from all players right from the throw in. In the first half Pearses faced a gale force wind with driving rain and stood up to any challenges they confronted. In goal Shane Glennon epitomised everything great about the Pearses performance. His kickouts were exemplary against the wind and the way he marshalled and encouraged our six backs was outstanding. Cian Grenham, Luke Kenny, Fionn Lyons were excellent in the full back line and they were ably assisted by Mikey Cruise, Ryan Kelly and Jack Ryan in the half back line. Our half back line also contributed to winning a lot of ball around our own kickouts and in carrying the ball against the wind. In midfield Abdullah Shahid and Conor Harley were well on top of a much fancied Kilbride midfield. They contested well under the high ball and were both a great link between our half backline and out half forward line. Up front Keelan Ryan, Sean Canning and Darragh Moore in the half forward line left nothing in the tank as they worked tirelessly for the full 60 minutes. They took on the Kilbride defence and created a number of chances for our inside forward line of James Harrington, Adam McGreal and Cathal Carty.

In the second half pearses played with a gale wind and as we looked to capitalize on this advantage Kilbride piled on the pressure for the 3rd quarter right up to the water break. Fortunately our lads were patient and stuck to their task and overcame this with constant hard work and great support play. A fortuities goal from Adam Mcgreal half way through the second half was the difference as we stopped for the water break. It really was all to play for in the last 12 minutes. This is where all the pearses players really came to the fore. The never say die attitude displayed from this team today was a joy to watch. The commitment, dedication and workman like performance from all of the starting team was exemplary as well John Shaughnessy, Ronan Sheerin and Charlie Mooney who were introduced in the second half.

It was a hard fought victory from beginning to end and the lads now have a county final to look forward to against a much fancied Oran/St Croans team in a weeks time. (Time, date and venue to be confirmed in due course).
